The world is now recognising the increasing value of sports.Sports first of all provide a pleasant and interesting way of exercising one's body and keeping it fit. If our body should be healthy. The best way to achieve this is to participate in sports. They also serve as a form of relaxation by easing our mental and physical strain. In Malaysia many games such as football, badminton, sepak takraw, basketball, tennis and other games are held on competitive basis. This gives an added interest to the players and the spectators.
Sports also keep us occupied in a useful and profitable way by not giving us opportunity to be involved in anti-social activities or other forms of activities that are harmful both to ourselves and to the nation. Sports on the other hand fill us with new energy and enthusiasm so that we can look forward to the following day with greater confidence and hope. Sports also help to faster valuable ideals such as fair play and team spirit. These virtues are likely to be carried over to our adult life and also in our relationship with other people.Sports therefore help to improve our character besides teaching us good discipline.
Again sports serve well as a means of fostering understanding and friendship among people in different parts of the world. Sports held along correct lines can help in the growth of international peace and co-operation. For all these reason sports should become an integral part of our life.
