There have been many reports that truancy in schools has been rising. Nowadays, many students do not think of the importance of going to school. There are many reasons for this, most probably due to the progress and changing norms in our society.
Firstly, students play truant because they want to seek attention. This is because their parents are busy working and have little time for them. Also, some students are bored with school and the same teaching methods, and consequently lose interest in class. Thus, they seek fun and excitement outside of school.
This problem is probably getting more and more serious. Hence, parents play an important role in curbing truancy. They need to pay more attention to their children by spending more time with them and building a good bond with their children. Moreover, parents should spend some time going to school and talking to their children's teachers to find out about their progress.
Other than that, the school has a role to play too. The school authorities can create a more positive school culture. They can help build an engaging calendar of events, such as "Art Week," "Creative Dance Week," and "Green Week." Teachers can encourage students to join these activities and thus motivate them to come to school.
In conclusion, truancy in school is not a matter that we can take lightly. If all parties work together and collaborate, truancy in schools will definitely be reduced.
